Carson’s Story
Carson Sheldon Alexander Huelin was born April 29th, 2004 in Burlington at Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital. He was the biggest child born to Loriann Keeping and Sheldon Huelin, weighing in at 8lbs, 1oz.
Carson had reached his milestones just like any other child. Around 5 1/2 months old, he is able to roll over on his own. At 10 months he to is walking, just like his sister. His parents were so proud to see things happening in order.
Carson also develops normally with only lack of speech. But around his 1st birthday and receiving news about his sister, his parents begin to worry that maybe Carson has the same disease.
Due to research that was being done with an age limit on it, the parents decided to wait until he was 3 before they would get him tested. Then the parents heard about a research project happening in Portland, Oregon dealing with Stem Cells. Carson is presently on the waiting list to be screened, but parents want to keep all options open.
In July of 2006, Loriann and Sheldon decided to get Carson tested. After waiting 8 weeks to get the results, they got the news that no parent would like to receive. Their son, Carson also has the same disease that their daughter Jamie has.
Now without thinking much they are on a mission. They need to stop the same things that happen to Jamie from happening to Carson. He has about 6 months to a year before most things happen. Even though Carson is on a waiting list in Portland, the parents are also raising funds for Carson to go to China the same time as his sister would. Time right now is very important.
